Most of the focus in reducing diesel exhaust emissions has concentrated on the automotive sector, but as truck emissions diminish, lawmakers are looking harder at the marine area for further emissions reduction.

In Australia, marine outboard and personal watercraft (PWC), are high polluters relative to their engine size and usage, these engines emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and oxides of nitrogen (NOx).

Diesel marine engines fitted with Diesel Exhaust Fuel (DEF) systems will limit the pollution coming from the boats engines. Boat owners need to utilise AUS40 DEF to meet the required specifications for their diesel motors.
